What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is a traditional healing technique originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the body, known as acupressure points, using the fingers, thumbs, hands, or specialised tools.

The practice is based on the belief that vital energy, known as Qi (pronounced “chee”), flows through pathways in the body called meridians. Acupressure aims to help restore balance to this energy flow and support the body’s natural wellbeing.

Unlike acupuncture, acupressure does not use needles. Instead, gentle pressure is applied to selected points to encourage relaxation, relieve tension, and promote overall wellbeing.

Potential Benefits of Acupressure

Both acupuncture and acupressure involve stimulating specific acupoints along the body's meridian pathways. Many people choose acupressure as a natural, non-invasive therapy to support their health and wellbeing.
